Pentagon Pants

Pentagon Pants

This is a pair of pants I made to familiarize myself with the process. They're made from softshell fabric and since softshells are usually pretty technical, I wanted to go the other way and try only buttons. Also, since flys normally aren't perfectly centered, using buttons and mimicking a pop-over collar opening let it sit in the middle. I added cuffs to the ankles to mirror the waist and fly.

I experimented with the pockets a bunch and settled on a pentagon shape that worked for all the pockets. The pockets lined up nicely with each other and each one accessed naturally from a different side of the pentagon. A larger cell phone rests nicely in any pocket.

These should be good for a rainy day or a day on the slope. With such dramatic shapes, it’d be great to try out a monochromatic variant in the future too. I made these on a home machine, so upping the machinery would definitely improve a button-hole heavy garment.
